Gaudens Restaurant is part of Clayton Hotel Charlemont on Charlemont Street, overlooking Dublin’s Grand Canal. The hotel restaurant has a relaxed, contemporary feel and is open for lunch and dinner, with menus built around locally sourced ingredients. Its canal-side position gives the dining room a particularly pleasant outlook, while the setting remains informal enough for everything from a business lunch to a relaxed dinner.
The menu takes a broad contemporary European approach rather than focusing on one particular cuisine. Current dishes include hot and spicy chicken wings with blue cheese dip and house slaw, pan-fried salmon with new potatoes, green beans and basil beurre blanc, and a 10oz sirloin served with vegetables, chunky chips and peppercorn sauce. There’s also a beef burger with Gruyère and smoked streaky bacon, beer-battered fish and chips with wasabi pea purée, and a traditional chicken curry with basmati rice, poppadum and raita.
Vegetarian diners have options including tomato and buffalo mozzarella, a chickpea korma and the Charlemont Super Salad, which combines baby spinach, avocado, Puy lentils, grilled halloumi, tenderstem broccoli and charred asparagus. Sides range from French fries to truffle and Parmesan fries, while desserts include options such as lime and toasted coconut meringue tart, Eton mess and warm apple and blackberry crumble.
