Set in Dublin’s oldest wine venue, Ely Bar & Grill occupies a former wine and whisky warehouse in the vaults of the docklands. Serving cult favourites and an exhaustive wine list, the restaurant is a popular spot for private dining.
Intimate lunch and dinner celebrations take place in Ely Bar & Grill’s climate-controlled private wine cellar. The room pays tribute to its warehouse roots with shelves of wine bottles on either side of the space and crates lining the exposed brick walls. Although the space is underground, its glass-panelled windows ensure it remains light and airy, while the private dining table dazzles beneath a sculpture-like twisting chandelier. The exhaustive wine-list shouldn’t stress you out as the staff are on-hand to select wines for a variety of budgets and taste buds.
Larger private dinners are better suited to the cellar vaults, available for exclusive hire or on a room-by-room basis. Note that the various rooms are connected by stone archways, making it a semi-private dining area. Expect traditional vaulted ceilings, exposed brick walls and long banquet tables in this subterranean venue. Ely Bar & Grill doesn’t ignore its wine heritage, displaying wooden casks in each room.
